# How to enable slider navigation

Slider navigation lets any element in your story — text, an image, a button — jump the reader to a specific slide. It works with any slider.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Create a slider

Add a **section slider** (or an element slider) to your story.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add the elements that will control the navigation

This can be any element like a text, image, or a component like a button. If you're creating a section slider, this element can be added either inside or outside the section slider, depending on your design and layout.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Link the element to its slide

Select the element and add a link to it using the **Link to Slide** option. Once you select it, all sliders and individual slides added to the story will be available to link.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

The screenshots below show the three variants: navigation outside a section slider, navigation inside a section slider, and slider navigation for an element slider.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.maker.co/maker-pages/design-tools/how-to-enable-slider-navigation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
