Maker MCP
The default product-discovery connector, powered by Maker.
Marked DEFAULT in the connectors list. Maker MCP is product discovery powered by Maker — if your store's catalogue feed is connected to Maker, the assistant can search and look up your products with no further setup.
It's listed only when your organization sells through Maker. If it isn't there, connect your catalogue with a connector of your own instead — see Adding your own connector.
When to turn it off
Turn it off when your catalogue isn't in Maker — and connect a different source instead:
Shopify merchants not on Maker can use Shopify's public catalog MCP. Greatstore works for any Shopify store this way, with no Maker account involved.
Any commerce platform that publishes an MCP can take the same slot.
See Adding your own connector.
Its tools
Maker MCP publishes read-only tools only — Search products, Browse catalog, Show catalog and Get product details. Nothing it exposes can change your store, which is why it's safe to leave on while you tighten access on other connectors.
Narrowing it, rather than turning it off
You don't have to choose all-or-nothing. Two ways to keep it and take less:
Disallow the tools you don't want. Each one can be switched off individually — see Controlling tool access.
Override a tool with your own. Add your connector, place it above Maker MCP and expose a tool with the same name; yours wins for that tool while Maker MCP serves the rest.
